On Thursday 3rd Septmber 2026 Julie was invited to give a talk on the history and uses of botanical art.  Speaking to a full house at the Nairn Book and Arts Festival, she gave a history of botanical art and some of the better-known artists, their expoits and voyages and the dangers they faced for botanical research and the discovery of new plants.  She then went on to describe what makes a good botanical painting and the materials used.

Many lovely comments were made and it was clear that the interest in these subjects is not limited to botanists and artists, but to history lovers and those that just love to hear of the derring-do of these intrepid explorers!
